Online chat service for answering general queries and doubts raised by tax payers related to direct tax issues has been launched by Income tax departments. Income Tax Department of Government of India has announced live chat service to make to file income tax returns easier and less complicated. Through new service, taxpayers will be able to look for answers to queries pertaining to direct tax.
How to use Live Chat services of Income Tax Department
- Go to Income Tax department website incometaxindia.gov.in
- You can find icon on right side of website that states ‘Live Chat Online’ there you can as your query
- Then new page will pop-up after you click on Live Chat Option
- You need to fill details like Email-ID, Name and Query and click on start button
- Now taxpayers begin to chat and clear all doubts and queries
Online Chat Features
Online chat feature also gives an option to taxpayers for emailing entire to chat to E-mail Ids for future reference. Every chat comes with protective note at the beginning however that states “the replied are based on opinion of expert and it should be taken as clarification by Income-tax Department on any issue.

CBDT started steps to process Online Chat
This is first time that Income Tax department has started such programme to make services to taxpayers better. I-T department has appointed team of experts from department and independent tax practitioners they have to answer your queries.
IT department has been taking such important steps to make tax processing services more convenient to user. Central Board of Direct Taxes issued an order for setting up dedicated structure for delivery and monitoring of taxpayer services in Income Tax Department.

This newly stated online chat service is intended to bridge the gap between taxpayers and authorities, making the process of filing income tax returns more transparent.
